Fire Run Older

Structure Fire 200 block of S Kennett

On 04/09/2017 at 1941 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 200 block of S Kennett Ave. When fire crews arrived, they had moderate smoke showing from the front of the structure. Crews made entry and encountered fire in the kitchen area. Crews extinguished the fire and conducted salvage and overhaul. Fire was started by unattended cooking. Crews were on scene for about 2 hours. Nelson County Fire and Rescue also provided mutual aid.

Commercial Structure Fire at Bluegrass Storage Buildings

On 03/01/2017 at 0134 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Avondale Court for a report of a storage building on fire behind that residence. When crews arrived on scene the found they had a 26 unit storage building on fire with fire venting through the roof and wind driving the fire into a 30 unit storage building next to it. Crews set up an aerial master stream, three hand lines, and a monitor nozzle. Command requested mutual aid from the Nelson County Fire and Rescue and from Northeast Nelson Fire Department. The wind eventually drove the fire into the building next to the fire building and the apartments on Avondale were evacuated. Crews extinguished the fire and had to conduct extensive overhaul. Crews were on scene for nine hours.

Mutual Aid for Structure Fire

On 02/28/2017 at 0611 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched by request from the Nelson County Fire and Rescue for a report of a structure fire in the 1000 block of Barnes Road. Crews assisted NCFR with extinguishment of the fire and were on scene for about an hour and 45 minutes.

MVC on 245 and Templin

On 02/28/2017 at 0515 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a MVC at the intersection of 245 and Templin. When crews arrived on they provided patient care due to the accident and a for a gun shot wound. Crews were on scene for about an hour.

MVC N 3rd St

On 02/24/2017 1446 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an MVC with injuries and a vehicle on its side at the intersection of N 3rd St and Peebles’ entrance. Crews assisted EMS with patient care and mitigated the scene. Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes.

Fire at HEC Manufacturing

On 12/17/2017 at 2245 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an active alarm due to a heat detector activation at HEC manufacturing. When crews arrived they retrieved the keys from the Knox Box and could see smoke and flames from the front door. The sprinkler system had been activated by the fire and kept the fire in check until crews could extinguish the fire with an 1 3/4″ hand line. Crews ventilated the structure and were on scene for about two hours.

Mulch fire at Kroger

On 02/17/2017 at 1215 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to Kroger for a report of mulch on fire. When crews arrived the employees had already extinguished the fire. Crews checked for hot spots and re-wet the area. Crews were on scene for about 15 minutes.

MVC with Entrapment on Templin Ave

On 02/15/2017 at 1912 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an MVC with entrapment at the intersection of Templin Avenue and Lincoln Way. When crews arrived they found one vehicle on its side with one patient entrapped in the vehicle. Crews stabilized the vehicle, extricated the patient and assisted EMS with patient care. Crews were on scene for about 40 minutes.

Smoke scare West Stephen Foster Area

On 01/25/2017 at 0046 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to the 800 block of W Stephen Foster Ave for a report of the smell of plastic burning in the area. Crews arrived on scene and conducted an investigation into the cause of the odor. After searching the area, the crews were unable to find a cause for the odor. Crews were on scene for about 30 minutes.

Active alarm at Life Care nursing home

On 01/24/2017 at 2337 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department responded to 120 Life Care Way, Life Care Nursing Home, for an activated sprinkler system. Crews arrived on scene and investigated the cause of the alarm. Crews determined that there was an issue with the air compressor on the sprinkler system. Crews were on scene for about 30 minutes.

Smoke scare in the Bourbon Court area

On 01/24/2017 at 1910 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department responded to the smell of smoke in the area in the 300 block of Bourbon Ct. Crews arrived on scene and spoke to the calling person. Crews investigated the area but was unable to find the source for the odor. Crews were on scene for about 30 minutes.

Smoke coming from a residence Pulliam Ave

On 01/23/2017 at 1655 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the residence in the 700 block of Pulliam Ave. When crews arrived they found light smoke showing from the roof line and the homeowner had already discharged a fire extinguisher. Crews found some smoldering material around the exterior of the front door. Crews used a water extinguisher to cool down the area and installed smoke detectors into the residence. Crews were on scene for about 40 minutes.

Vehicle Fire Bluegrass Parkway

On 01/20/2017 at 1400 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle that was on fire at the 25 mm of the Bluegrass Parkway. When crews arrived the vehicle was totally involved and all occupants of the vehicle have gotten out. Crews extinguished the fire and were on scene for about an hour and twenty minutes.

Electrical short in a structure

On 01/22/2017 at 1537 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Camptown Road for a report of an electrical outlet sparking. When crews arrived they found a faulty outlet and shut the breaker off to that area. Crews checked for any extension into the wall and found none. Home owner was advised to contact an electrician prior to restoring power to that area. Crews were on scene for about 30 minutes.

Smell of gas in the area

On 01/16/2017 at 2130 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department responded to the intersection of Butler and Purcell Avenues for a report of the smell of gas in the area. Crews arrived on scene and checked the area but was unable to find the source for the odor. Crews were on scene for about 25 minutes.

Smoke scare at Dollar General

On 01/15/20107 at 1134 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to the Dollar General Store on Bloomfield Road for a report of sparks and smoke coming from a refrigeration unit. Upon arrival crews found light smoke in the building and found that a wire had been severed and was shorting out against the unit. Crews turned the breaker off for that unit and were on scene for about 30 minutes.

Extinguishing System activation at Fuji Seal

On 01/15/2017 at 0841 hours, the Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to American Fuji Seal for a report of an active alarm due to an extinguishing system activation. When crews arrived on scene they were met by maintenance personnel who advised that there had been an activation of the CO extinguishing system in the paint mixing room. Crews checked the area but could find no reason for the activation. Crews were on scene for about 30 minutes.
