Located at the City of Bardstown Educational Complex at 219 E Muir St. in Bardstown, the Archives’ purpose is to collect and preserve items related to the history of Bardstown and Nelson County.

The archives was a project that started Winter of 2016, and is still in the processes of digitizing its collection.

DONATIONS
The archives accepts donations that relate to the history of Bardstown and Nelson County. If you have historical photographs or documents that should be preserved, please bring them to the archives. You may either donate or loan your materials. Loaned items will be digitized and  the original copies will be returned to you. If you are not sure if your materials relate to Bardstown or Nelson County history, please contact the preservation coordinator for help making that determination.

THE COLLECTION
The archives started when local historian and author Dixie Hibbs made a contribution of over 2,000 photographs and documents. The collection is housed in two temperature and light controlled rooms in the COBEC building and preserved using museum-quality standards and techniques.

VOLUNTEER
The archives welcomes volunteers who are interested in local history and preservation. Every Monday from 8:30 - 4:30, volunteers work to sort and digitize items to create a searchable database. For more information on how to volunteer, contact RaShae Jennings.
