Downtown EV Charger Officially Unveiled

July 1 2020 -

Today, Mayor Heaton, staff from the City Electric Department, representatives from Evolve KY, and community members gathered at the Farmer's Market Pavilion to officially unveil a new electric vehicle charger. The Electric Department, along with Evolve KY and the Tourism Commission teamed up to place what is hoped to be a tourism draw, bringing in out-of-town visitors who own electric vehicles. It takes several hours to fully charge most electric vehicles, and many tourists make their decision on where to spend the day based on where they can plug in to charge. While they wait, they may visit Bardstown's local restaurants, shops, and other downtown attractions.

This charger is the first free public charger in the City. Its location has been listed on numerous EV charger location apps, as well as Google maps, which allows EV owners to quickly find charging locations.

The charger is located at the Farmer's Market Pavilion at 116 E Flaget Street, is free to use, and can charge two vehicles at the same time.
