Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman
The City of Bardstown is looking for a qualified individual to fill the full-time position of Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman in our Public Works department.

Job Duties

  • Provides guidance to less experienced maintenance operators and serves as the on-site authority for maintenance issues.
  • Monitors the day-to-day activities of maintenance operators including guidance, quality checking, onboarding, and training.
  • Prepares equipment for daily operations and transports heavy materials worksite.
  • Operates heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of City public works projects.
  • Participates in the construction, maintenance and cleanliness of City infrastructure including streets, roads, water distribution lines, sewer collection lines, bridges, sidewalks, alleys, storm sewers, culverts, manholes, drainage ditches, street signs, barricades, etc.
  • Participates in the construction and maintenance of City pathways (i.e. streets, signage, alleys, sidewalks, roads, etc.) including paving/patching streets, spreading gravel, sweeping, yard waste removal, ice/snow removal, and making & installing street signage & traffic control.
  • Interacts with customers, both internal and external, ensuring customers are serviced in a professional and timely manner. Reports customer complaints to proper authority for investigation and disposition.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners on special projects as assigned.
  • Participates in professional development activities (i.e. meetings, seminars, conferences, etc.) to improve and remain abreast of professional & legislative advancements & innovations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Class A commercial drivers license
  • Valid class III water distribution license
  • Valid class III sewer collection license
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug test.
Salary and Benefits
Beginning salary range is $61,000 - $91,000 a year based on qualifications. The city offers a competitive benefits package that includes state retirement contributions, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, paid vacation, paid personal days, life insurance etc.
