Press Release: Former CFO Tracy Hudson Lawsuit

From the Office of the Mayor:

On August 24, 2022, Bardstown's former Chief Financial Officer Tracy Hudson pied guilty to the federal charge of "Fraud by wire, radio, or television" regarding her thefts from the City of Bardstown. As a result of the guilty plea, there will be no federal trial involving Ms. Hudson; sentencing will occur at a hearing in U.S. District Court in Louisville, which has not yet been scheduled.

Ms. Hudson denied the full amount of her thefts in her plea of guilty. The City is in contact with the U.S. Attorney's Office and intends to fully participate in the sentencing hearing, which will be in the form of a trial before Senior District Judge Charles R. Simpson Ill in the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. The City will provide witnesses to account for the entire amount of her thefts from the City of $764,093.39.

The City of Bardstown has previously collected $484,121 total in reimbursement for Ms. Hudson's thefts, including $134,121 from Ms. Hudson and $350,000 from the company that issued the surety bond for Ms. Hudson. The City is committed to securing the return of the remaining amounts owed by Ms. Hudson through restitution in the criminal process and, to the extent it is necessary and prudent, through the City's pending lawsuit in the Nelson Circuit Court.
