The City of Bardstown will officially become a member of the Kentucky 811 Before You Dig (BUD) service beginning Monday, July 24th, 2023.

• Anyone planning a digging project after July 24th should contact 811 directly at least two full business days in advance of when they plan to perform the work. (Dial 811, visit Kentucky811.org or use the new Kentucky 811 app available in the Apple store and on Google Play.)

• Excavators are encouraged to mark the area where digging will occur with white paint before contacting 811. This helps utility locators identify the excavation area.

Once a request is made, utility locators will mark underground facilities with color-coded flags or paint. 

• Red: Electric lines
• Orange: Communication lines
• Green: Sanitary sewers
• Blue: Drinkable water lines
